Armed DoorDash Dope Busted Over Tip Demand
Driver claimed he was "cheated" of cash gratuity
JUNE 5--Angered that he had not received a cash tip the night before on a $100 order, a DoorDash driver returned to a Washington home with a loaded gun on his hip to seek the gratuity, police charge.
Investigators allege that Robert Delehant, 59, showed up last Thursday morning at the Vancouver residence of Kianna Korenkov, 19, to demand the tip. Delehant was “loud and mouthy,” Korenkov told police.
After Korenkov’s father told Delehant to leave the family’s property, the men got into an altercation during which Delehant allegedly reached for a holstered Ruger firearm. Anthony Volino, 55, told cops he grabbed Delehant’s gun and pushed the driver down onto the driveway.
Volino “stated when he smelled liquor on Robert’s breath, he thought anything could happen,” according to a probable cause affidavit sworn by a Vancouver Police Department officer. Volino, cops reported, said he feared for his safety when Delehant reached for the gun.
After driving away from the residence in his Kia Soul, Delehant called police dispatch and “advised the house cheated him out of a tip so he returned and was pushed.” Cops say Delehant, who smelled of booze, admitted to drinking at home before returning to the client’s residence.
“I shouldn’t have come back,” Delehant reportedly told police. He also claimed that he had only lifted his shirt to show he was armed after being confronted by Volino. A home security camera recorded the men “wrestling over the firearm,” reported Officer Christian Stromme.
As seen above, the footage also showed Volino holding the gun after Delehant had been disarmed and shoved to the ground.
Delehant was charged with assault, harassment, and driving under the influence (his blood alcohol level was measured at more than twice the legal limit). Court records indicate that Delehant has a prior DUI conviction.
Delehant’s DoorDash delivery days have ended, according to the company. (2 pages)
