Though federal aviation officials are still investigating the cause of the October 1999 crash of EgyptAir Flight 990, the FBI seems to buy into the theory that co-pilot Gamil El-Batouty crashed the plane into the Atlantic Ocean, killing all 217 people aboard. Included among nearly 1800 pages of documents released August 11 by the National Transportation Safety Board were FBI interview reports portraying El-Batouty as a creepy pervert/stalker (which, of course, doesn't make him a mass murderer). In these two reports, Hotel Pennsylvania staffers recall El-Batouty's bizarre behavior in the Manhattan hotel, where EgyptAir crew members stayed during New York layovers. (4 pages)
