DECEMBER 26--A 76-year-old man allegedly shoved his 77-year-old wife to the ground after she slapped him in the face upon discovering that he was perusing a dating web site inside their Florida residence, cops report.
Edward Aronson was charged with domestic battery following the confrontation Saturday night in the Lake Worth home he shares with his wife Sylvia, who suffered a broken hip when she was pushed to the ground by her spouse of 33 years.
According to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office report, Sylvia--who was interviewed in her hospital bed--told a deputy that she “found her husband looking at an unknown dating web site.” An argument ensued, and Sylvia “became so upset with him not being honest that she slapped him on the left side of his face.” Edward allegedly responded by pushing Sylvia, causing her to fall to the floor.
When questioned by an investigator, Edward “freely admitted to pushing his wife down to the ground after arguing with her.” He added that his wife had remarked that “after 33 years of marriage, I can not believe it.”
Deputies only learned of the alleged battery after the elderly couple had gone to a local hospital for treatment of Sylvia’s injury. Nurse Lori Leisen reported overhearing Edward tell someone on the phone, “She accused me of cheating and was yelling at me so I pushed her.”
Seen in the above mug shot, Edward was briefly booked into the county jail on two felony counts of battering someone over the age of 65. (3 pages)
