Homeless Man's "Blessing From God" Nails Him
Floridian arrested after using card to get pedicure
DECEMBER 13--Believing that his luck had changed after coming across a credit card on the side of a Florida road, a homeless man did not use the found MasterCard to buy food, drink, or expensive electronic gadgets.
Instead, Jonah Troutman headed off to a nail salon for a pedicure. Which, of course, resulted in the 27-year-old’s arrest Saturday.
According to a Volusia County Sheriff’s Office report, Troutman went to Nancy’s Nails and received a $20 pedicure. However, after a worker tried twice to process the payment for the foot beautification, the card came back as declined. An employee then called the cops.
When questioned by a deputy, Troutman admitted that he did not own the card. But he explained that he believed it “was a gift card and that finding it was a blessing from god.”
Troutman, pictured in the above mug shot, remains locked up in the county jail on $2500 bond. He is facing a felony illegal use of a credit card charge and misdemeanor theft count. (2 pages)
