Open Gown, A Universal Hospital Indignity, Leads To Indiana Man's Public Indecency Bust

A 21-year-old Indiana man is facing an indecent exposure charge after he walkied out of his hospital room and into the facility’s parking lot wearing only a revealing gown.

According to an Evansville Police Department report, Ty Alsop found himself at the Deaconess Hospital Friday night after an anonymous 911 call led a medic to discover him passed out in his car with his pants and underwear “heavily soiled with urine.”

An emergency room doctor later recorded Alsop's blood alcohol at a whopping .422, more than five times the legal limit.

While hospital staff were dealing with several emergencies--including a severely injured infant--Alsop was “acting out,” so a nurse asked a cop to intercede. The officer told Alsop to stay in his bed, got him a pillow, and turned out the light.

Unwilling to sleep it off while police tried to track down his parents, Alsop decided instead to sneak by hospital staffers and walk out to the parking lot “wearing only his hospital gown which was split down the back with his buttocks fully exposed” in view of staff, patients, and visitors, cops reported.

The open-backed garment--an indignity suffered by hospital patients across the country--led Alsop to jail where he was also charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct. Alsop, seen in the above mug shot, asked a cop for one more chance, explaining, "I'm not really a bad guy, I’ve just been a drunken asshole tonight.”
