Webcam Records Woman Getting Hit By Car In Famous Abbey Road Crossing

A webcam that usually shows tourists wading into traffic to recreate a famous Beatles album cover recorded a female pedestrian getting struck by a car as she tried to beat the vehicle across Abbey Road.

The victim was knocked in the air by a Volkswagen as she raced across the London street in front of Abbey Road Studios, where The Beatles recorded “Abbey Road.” The recording company’s web site includes a “Crossing Cam” that offers a live view of the zebra crossing made famous by the band’s 1969 album.

As seen in the above video, the woman sprinted across the road, either oblivious to the approaching car or determined to beat it through the crossing. The extent of the woman’s injuries are unknown, though passerby can be seen calling for emergency assistance.

While the clip was uploaded Friday to LiveLeak, it is unclear when the accident occurred. The poster--who was apparently monitoring the livestream--reported that, “Eventually an ambulance came and took her to the hospital. I'm pretty sure she was OK."
