A New Twist On The Old Hit And Run

Meet Melissa Anne Nunziato. Most drivers involved in a minor car accident wait around for the cops, exchange some paperwork, and get back on the road. Not Melissa. The 28-year-old Florida waitress hatched a bizarre escape plan after she was involved in a fender-bender Saturday morning (2/15). After fleeing the accident scene, Nunziato parked her Chevy and headed for the cosmetics department of a nearby Kmart, where she allegedly swiped a few items for her harebrained scheme (we'll let the following arrest affidavit from the Stuart Police Department tell the rest of the story). Nunziato, already on probation for a grand theft conviction, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, retail theft, and obstruction of justice.
