Courtney Love Tax Troubles
California liens on rocker over tardy unemployment payments
SEPTEMBER 29--California officials have socked Courtney Love with a state tax lien, claiming the embattled performer has stiffed them on payments dating back to 2002. The below lien notice, filed recently with the Los Angeles County Recorder's Office, seeks about $38,000 from the 40-year-old performer. According to the lien, the back tax is owed for the 18-month period beginning January 1, 2002. The money owed apparently does not relate to Love's own income taxes, but rather unemployment insurance taxes due in connection with her hiring of personal employees (a similar levy was recently filed against fashionista Anna Wintour). As we've previously reported, Love has been hit with two separate liens, totaling about $25,000, for nonpayment of monthly maintenance fees on her swanky Manhattan condominium. (1 page)
