In the course of a forgery investigation, FBI agents once asked baseball legend Joe DiMaggio to provide them with handwriting samples for comparison with suspect memorabilia. While the following exemplars would probably now be worth a fortune, the originals were returned to the Yankee Clipper when the probe ended without charges being filed. Even so, one memo notes that Joe D would not have been the greatest witness because of the difficulty in discerning which of his autographs were real and which were fake. (6 pages)
