Conor McGregor Arrested After Confrontation
Cops: MMA star smashed, stole $1000 phone
MARCH 11--MMA star Conor McGregor was arrested tonight for allegedly smashing a man’s phone during a 5:20 AM confrontation today outside the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami Beach.
According to a police report, McGregor, 30, slapped the phone out of the victim’s hand as he tried to snap a photo of the volatile athlete. McGregor then allegedly repeatedly stomped on the $1000 phone before walking away with the device.
Police identified the victim as Ahmed Abdirzak, a 22-year-old whose home address is listed as a residence in Slough, a city outside London, England.
Seen in the above mug shot, McGregor was charged with strong-armed robbery, a felony, and criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.
McGregor, who has been vacationing in south Florida with his family, was arrested around 6 PM at a waterfront mansion in Miami Beach and booked into the Miami-Dade County jail, where he was being held in lieu of $12,500 bond.
A lawyer for McGregor dismissed the matter as a “minor altercation involving a cell phone that resulted in a call to law enforcement.” He added that the athlete "appreciates the response of law enforcement and pledges his full cooperation.” (2 pages)
