"Star Wars" Fan Wore Costume To Child Sex Meet
Man, 60, sent agents photo of himself as Boba Fett
NOVEMBER 3--A Michigan man dressed as the "Star Wars" character Boba Fett was arrested last week after he arranged to meet up with a child to have sex, according to police who snared the man in an undercover sting.
After spotting an online ad that was “highly indicative of child sexual exploitation,” Macomb County Sheriff’s Office detectives began chatting online with Daniel Gene Fritz, 60, who allegedly thought he was conversing with a minor.
During the online exchanges, Fritz sent the undercover agents a “selfie” showing him wearing a Boba Fett helmet. The photo, seen above, was released by the sheriff’s office.
According to investigators, Fritz arranged to meet with the child last Wednesday in Roseville, a city 20 miles north of Detroit. Fritz, investigators allege, believed that he was going to have sex with the minor.
When Fritz drove to the meeting place, he was already wearing the Boba Fett costume, according to Sheriff Anthony Wickersham. Fritz put on the Boba Fett helmet upon arrival, completing the uniform of the galactic bounty hunter allied with Darth Vader.
Arrested at the scene, Fritz (seen at left) was later charged with two counts of child sexually abusive activity, a felony carrying a maximum 20-year prison term. He was also hit with two counts of using the Internet to communicate with another to commit a crime.
Locked up in the county jail in lieu of $50,000 bond, Fritz is scheduled for a November 12 court hearing. (1 page)
