Pervert Pleas To Sick Cupcake Contamination

NOVEMBER 19--A Colorado pervert has pleaded guilty and is scheduled to be sentenced Friday for a vile act that involved a bodily fluid and cupcakes consumed by guests attending a child’s birthday party, records show.

Stephen Masalta, 32, who worked at a Safeway supermarket, recently copped to attempting to commit sexual assault on a child, a felony, and a pair of misdemeanor indecent exposure charges.

According to a plea agreement, Masalta will serve about two years in jail and be placed on 10 years of “Sex Offender Intensive Supervision Probation.” Seen at right, Masalta--who will be barred from having contact with anyone under the age of 18--has been locked up since his arrest earlier this year for repeatedly masturbating outside coffee shops in Loveland and Fort Collins.

As part of the probe of those lewd incidents, police searched Masalta’s phones and discovered videos showing “someone (presumably Masalta) masturbating and touching his penis to donuts in what appears to be a grocery store.” At the time of the recordings, Masalta worked as a “night stocker” at a Safeway in Fort Collins.

As detailed in a court filing, investigators said food items that “came into contact with Masalta’s seminal fluid and penis include strawberries in a plastic sale container, donuts, cupcakes, and a large bucket of commercial pastry frosting.”

In one video, cops said, “Masalta touches his penis to and masturbates on a batch of 12 cupcakes” that were ordered by a woman for her son’s birthday party. On an order label affixed to the cupcake container, a store employee had written, “Add Super Mario toys if we have.”

A Safeway manager who was shown video images said that he believed Masalta’s clips were recorded in the bakery (seen below) and freezer areas of the Fort Collins store.

The female customer had ordered a total of 24 cupcakes, which were consumed at a party attended by 16 children and several adults. Masalta was charged with 16 counts of attempted sexual assault on a child since the “cupcake special order label requesting sprinkles and Super Mario toys be included show the order was likely intended for children.”

Upon discovering Masalta’s videos, detectives “worked to contact the families” of multiple children “who ate the cupcakes.”

At the time of his arrest, Masalta was already a “sexual offender for installing hidden cameras” in the women’s bathroom of a California church. Masalta was busted in 2015 for placing a phone inside a tissue box atop a toilet and surreptitiously recording 14 women and six underage girls. Masalta told a California cop that he “masturbated to the videos he made, including while he was still inside the church.” (10 pages)
