Zamboni Drunk Driving Rap
Cops: New Jersey man piloted ice cleaner under the influence
JUNE 28--When it comes to drunk driving arrests, TSG has seen perps get nabbed while piloting cars, lawnmowers, bicycles, golf carts, boats, horses, and snowmobiles. We can now add Zambonis to that list, thanks to one John Peragallo.
The 63-year-old New Jersey man was nailed Sunday for the alleged boozed-up operation of the ice cleaning machine at the Mennen Sports Arena in Morris County, according to this summons.
An arena manager apparently called cops after spotting Peragallo's reckless operation of the Zamboni, which careened around the ice and nearly smashed into the rink's boards. When cops arrived, Peragallo had finished resurfacing the ice and had parked the Zamboni.
According to a police report, he was hit with a misdemeanor drunk driving charge after twice blowing a .12 on a breath test (the Garden State legal limit is .08). Peragallo is scheduled for a July 14 court appearance. (2 pages)
