As the United States prepares for war, White House officials say the Bush administration has no current plans to reinstitute the draft. But that doesn't mean the Selective Service System has not prepared for that possibility.
In fact, here's a Reagan-era induction notice that the agency composed (and which was included in some Selective Service documents TSG recently obtained via a Freedom of Information Act request). The draft notice--which, of course, was never sent--orders the recipient to report immediately to an Armed Forces Examining and Entrance Station for processing. (3 pages)
