Rosa Parks, R.I.P.
Her long-lost mug shot was found last year by Alabama cops
OCTOBER 25--Civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks, who died yesterday at age 92, was photographed by Alabama cops following her February 1956 arrest during the Montgomery bus boycotts.
The booking photo, a copy of which you'll find below, was discovered last July by a deputy cleaning out a Montgomery County Sheriff's Department storage room.
Parks, who was 43 when the picture was taken, was arrested along with Martin Luther King Jr. and other protesters. A similarly historic mug shot of King--which you can find here--was also found by Montgomery cops. It is unclear when the notations 'DEAD' and '4-4-68' were written on the King picture. (2 pages)
