Forget the Declaration of Independence, this may be the greatest American document ever.
It's the letter Elvis Presley scrawled to President Richard Nixon to secure his famous December 1970 meeting (Elvis personally delivered the note to the White House gate). Presley, who wrote the letter en route to Washington, wanted to be named a "Federal Agent at Large" to help out in the country's war against drugs.
We've also included presidential aide Dwight Chapin's hilarious note to Chief of Staff Bob Haldeman apprising him of Elvis's request for an appointment with Nixon.
The singer also visited the FBI during his 1970-71 D.C. tour. (8 pages)
Here's a TSG blast from the past.
