Pizza Tip Stabbing

DECEMBER 26--Angry that she only received a $2 tip on a $33.10 order of pizza and chicken wings, a delivery driver allegedly clocked out of work and returned later that night to stab the female customer 14 times, according to Florida investigators.

Cops say Brianna Alvelo, 22, was working Sunday evening at Marco’s Pizza, a Kissimmee business, when she was dispatched around 10 PM to the nearby Riviera Motel to deliver food ordered by Melinda Irizarry, 26. Irizarry, her boyfriend, Bobby Brooks, and the couple’s five-year-old daughter were celebrating Brooks’s birthday.

As alleged in an arrest affidavit, when Irizarry handed over $50 for the food, Alvelo “began walking away with the money and Melinda had to stop and ask her for change.” Irizarry told cops she “did not want to leave such a large tip.”

After rooting around for smaller bills, Irizarry and Brooks tipped Alvelo $2. “Melinda explained the female rolled her eyes and walked away without saying anything.”

Police charge that Alvelo and a male accomplice--both dressed in black and wearing facemasks--showed up at the motel 90 minutes after the food delivery. Upon hearing a loud knocking, Irizarry opened the door and the two visitors burst in.

The male intruder brandished a gun, while the woman--whom cops later identified as Alvelo--began “rummaging” through Irizarry’s purse and the family’s belongings (and even smashed the child’s Nintendo Switch). When Alvelo pulled out a knife, Irizarry turned away to shield her daughter.

That is when Alvelo allegedly “began striking [Irizarry] multiple times with the knife.” Cops reported that, “It was discovered Melinda was stabbed 14 times in different areas of her body and had just found out from the hospital that she was a few weeks pregnant.” Irizarry was hospitalized in stable condition.

A brief police probe identified Alvelo as a suspect in the attack, with investigators stating that she “became upset about the tip she had received.” Seen above, Alvelo was arrested Monday and charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, kidnapping, and home invasion with a firearm. Her male companion has not been identified.

Alvelo is locked up without bond in the Osceola County jail. (3 pages)
