California Abductor's Criminal Past

The California man shot to death today (8/1) hours after he abducted two teenage girls was being sought by police for a September 2001 rape, court records show. An arrest warrant for Roy Ratliff was issued, but the ex-con was never apprehended. Court records indicate that, had Ratliff been caught, bail would have been set at a whopping $3 million in California's Kern County Superior Court. Below you'll find the six-count criminal complaint charging Ratliff, 37, with sexual assault and threatening to kill or seriously injure his victim. The complaint also details Ratliff's prior felony convictions (in 1991 and 1997) for burglary and drug possession. (8 pages)
