Meet Bobby Brown. The troubled singer pleaded guilty today (1/17) to an old drunk driving charge and, for the third time in 71 days, posed for a mug shot (see below) taken by Georgia cops. The 33-year-old performer was sentenced to eight days in jail, fined $2000, and ordered to perform 240 hours of community service and attend substance abuse counseling sessions in connection with his plea to the 1996 DUI rap. Why did it take 6+ years to settle this DeKalb County misdemeanor case? Because Brown, the husband of singer Whitney Houston, skipped town after his arrest. But when Atlanta cops busted him last November on marijuana and speeding charges, they discovered Brown's outstanding bench warrant from the DUI case. While Judge Wayne Purdom granted Brown bail, the singer was ordered not to leave Georgia pending trial on the 1996 charge. Brown, of course, promptly violated that order by traveling to Los Angeles to appear on Monday's (1/13) American Music Awards. Purdom responded Tuesday by issuing this arrest warrant for Brown, who showed up today in state court to cop a plea. (3 pages)
