Even A Plea From A Cute Cartoon Mouse Couldn't Save Lynne Stewart
Before Judge John Koeltl resentenced Lynne Stewart this month on a 2005 conviction for passing messages to a jailed terrorist, some of her friends wrote to the jurist seeking leniency for the former radical lawyer.
As seen here, children’s book author/illustrator Sheila Hamanaka’s pitch included a plea from a female mouse writing on a parchment roll. The tiny rodent’s unorthodox approach was unpersuasive, as Koeltl socked the 70-year-old Stewart with a 10-year sentence for aiding the radical cleric Sheikh Omar Abdel-Rahman.
