Cops: Another Florida Man Left His Child In a Locked Car While Partying At A Strip Club
A Florida man left his three-year-old son inside a parked truck while he partied early yesterday at a strip club, police report.
Jordan Caraway, 25, was arrested for misdemeanor child neglect in connection with his 1 AM visit to Dixie’s Gentlemen’s Club in DeLand. He remains jailed today at the Volusia County lockup, where he is being held in lieu of $500 bond.
According to a charging affidavit, a Dixie’s employee called cops after spotting the child in the GMC pickup. The woman told sheriff’s deputies that she removed the boy from the unattended--and apparently unlocked--vehicle and brought him inside the club’s office.
The child, who was “visibly upset and crying hysterically,” had grease and dirt on his body and his clothes were dirty, an investigator noted.
In an interview with deputies, Alicia Lewis, the boy’s mother, said that she had left the child in Caraway’s care when she went to work Saturday afternoon. Lewis added that when she called Caraway at 1 AM Sunday, he told her he was at a party (and that the child was with him). In a second call, Lewis said, Caraway told her to come pick up the boy at Dixie’s.
When confronted by deputies, Caraway (seen in the above mug shot) claimed that a male friend, Jeremy Donahue, was watching his son while he was inside Dixie’s. However, Donahue, who was drunk, told deputies that he had been drinking with Caraway inside the club, and that the boy was “left sleeping inside the vehicle.”
Last month, a Florida man was arrested for child neglect after allegedly leaving his seven-year-old daughter in a parked car while he spent about an hour inside Orlando’s Diamond Club strip joint.
