Promoters Pay Aerosmith $1 Million To Have Steven Tyler Plummet Off Stage
Aerosmith, whose lead singer is now slumming it as a judge on “American Idol,” tops the money list of bands that toured the United States this summer, contract records show.
The group, which completed its 18-city U.S. tour in mid-September, received a guaranteed $1 million payday for its 90-minute performances, according to the above excerpt from one of the band’s contracts (click to enlarge). And that seven-figure haul could have increased based on Aerosmith’s receipt of a percentage of ticket sales above a contractually stipulated amount.
The whopping fee apparently is inclusive of frontman Steven Tyler (pictured at right) occasionally tumbling headfirst into the audience.
The band’s $1 million guarantee places it atop TSG’s chart of 2010 tour earners. Aerosmith earned nearly $300,000 more per show than Rascal Flatts, the number two group, and more than three times what Justin Bieber earned per concert.
