DECEMBER 7--Police today released two suicide notes written by the 20-year-old gunman who Wednesday killed eight people at a Omaha, Nebraska mall before committing suicide.
The handwritten notes from Robert Hawkins can be found here, along with a will giving his mother his car.
One note was addressed to "friends" and the other to "family." In the notes, Hawkins refers to himself as a "piece of shit" and apologizes for "what I've put you through." In his note to family members, Hawkins wrote that, "I can't take this meaningless existence anymore. I've been a constant disappointment and that trend would have only continued." (3 pages)
