NABBED: Glen Campbell in drunk driving arrest
NOVEMBER 25--When that Paris Hilton videotape started to circulate, we knew it was only a matter of time before the poor young woman--like so many other stressed-out Hollywood types--sought the warm embrace of the Kabbalah. Hilton was spotted last week at the Kabbalah Centre in L.A., where Madonna, Demi Moore, Britney Spears, and Roseanne Barr have studied (or just dabbled in) ancient Jewish mysticism. Like other devotees, Hilton left the joint wearing a piece of red string knotted around her left wrist--not a fashion statement, but something to protect her from the negative influences of the "Evil Eye." According to Kabbalah teachings, the red string is Kryptonite to "the unfriendly stare and unkind glances we sometimes get from people around us. Envious eyes and looks of ill will affect us, stopping us from realizing our full potential in every area of our life." So we're not sure what the unenlightened folks at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office were thinking when they recently rejected a Kabbalah application to trademark "Kabbalah Red String" in connection with the production of "religious articles." Below you'll find the trademark rejection as well as the group's original application for the TM. The organization has six months to respond to Uncle Sam's unfriendly stare. (6 pages)
