Judge Wants Diana Ross Back In Jail

TOP BILLING: See the woman who tried to spend phony $1 million bill

MARCH 10--Looks like Diana Ross will have to return to Arizona to serve a two-day jail sentence for her drunk driving conviction. In a sweetheart deal, the singer was allowed to serve the 48 hours in a lockup near her Connecticut home. But Tucson City Court Magistrate T. Jay Cranshaw determined that the 59-year-old singer checked in and out of the Greenwich, Connecticut jail several times over a three-day period last month. In the below order, Cranshaw wrote that the Greenwich arrangement did not "comply with Arizona law." To avoid questions of impropriety, Cranshaw wrote, "the defendant is ordered to return to Tucson to serve 48 consecutive hours in the Pima County Jail." When arrested for "extreme DUI" in December 2002, a plastered Ross failed various sobriety tests and actually fell down when she tried to perform the difficult "one leg stand." (3 pages)
