The Intoxicated Teacher
Woman had booze in container at California middle school
MARCH 24--A California middle school teacher was arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with felony child endangerment after showing up to work intoxicated.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office, Tonya Neff, seen in the mug shot at left, was under the influence of alcohol and prescription drugs while at the Toro Canyon Middle School in Thermal. Neff, 47, was taken to the nurse's office by school staff while administrators called cops Officers later seized a container of alcohol from the seventh grade teacher.
Neff was booked into jail in lieu of $345,000 bail. According to a Coachella Valley Unified School District official, Neff, an English teacher, is now on administrative leave. (1 page)
