Another "Douchebag" Lawsuit Dies

APRIL 9--A Las Vegas party promoter has dropped a libel lawsuit over his portrayal as a 'douchebag' in the book 'Hot Chicks with Douchebags.'

Michael Minelli's decision last month to voluntarily dismiss his lawsuit came weeks after a New Jersey judge threw out a similar lawsuit filed by three women whose pictures appeared in author Jay Louis's 2008 examination of allegedly odious men and their comely female companions.

In his Clark County District Court complaint, Minelli, 27, charged that the inclusion of his photo in the Simon & Schuster title had resulted in 'friends, acquaintances, coworkers, employees, and strangers alike' calling him a 'douchebag.' The book, he claimed, subjected him to 'hatred, contempt, and humiliation.'

However, on March 18 Minelli filed a voluntary dismissal notice, a copy of which you'll find here.

Minelli is pictured on page 202 of Louis's book, where he is described as a 'popped-collar, spikey-haired presence' who was 'so far beyond regular douche, so far beyond uberdouche, he could spontaneously create a new element on the periodic tables--Douche Nine.'

Minelli's lawyer, Preston Rezaee, told TSG that his client 'just decided not to pursue' the civil action, adding that the recent New Jersey ruling 'had some bearing' on Minelli's decision to drop the lawsuit. (2 pages)
