Los Angeles prosecutors today (10/9) asked a judge to dismiss a felony drug charge filed against actress Winona Ryder. Citing a sworn declaration by a defense witness, prosecutors are seeking to drop the drug count "in the interests of justice." Though it has not been released, the defense declaration apparently offered proof that the actress had reason to possess the painkiller Oxycodone, which cops found in Ryder's purse following her shoplifting arrest last December. The 30-year-old Oscar nominee is scheduled to stand trial next week on felony grand theft, commercial burglary, and vandalism charges. (2 pages)
