Attention Moms: Don't Get Caught Cheering On Your Kid In A YouTube Video Fight

A Florida mother who stood on the sidelines cheering on her daughter during a planned high school fight between the teen and another girl was arrested today for child abuse.

According to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office affidavit, April Newcomb, 39, can be seen on multiple YouTube videos “encouraging” her daughter “to physically fight” with the other girl. The videos, one of which can be viewed below, were filmed by attendees of the fight, which occurred in a vacant field near Palmetto High School.

As seen in this still, it appears most teens present came prepared to record the fisticuffs. 

When questioned by a cop, Newcomb, pictured in the mug shot at right, claimed that she only attended the bout between the two 16-year-old combatants in order “to make sure nothing got out of hand.” She also wanted to look out for her daughter’s health since the teen had “sustained a skull fracture from a previous incident approximately two years ago.”

"Of course we were both wrong and I understand that," Newcomb said, adding, "I understand where ya’ll are coming from.”  

As her daughter is being throttled by a larger girl, Newcomb can be heard at one point yelling to her child, “Don’t fucking stop.” Later in the video, apparently serving as her offspring’s corner man, Newcomb advises, “Punch her in the fucking body.”

Newcomb can also be seen at the clip’s outset, arriving with her daughter’s entourage as the teen's opponent bounced about in preparation for the fight.

yes, girls would have fought anyway. So, isn't it better if both moms are around in case fight gets really out of hand? It would have been a big deal if one girl assaulted the other. But it wasn't like that at all. The charges were reduced to misdemeanor because this document shows both girls agreed to fight: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/file/girl-fight-mom?page=3 I don't get it what's the problem with a one on one fight? Is everyone such a hypocrite that they deny fights happen all the time in middle school and high school? It's neither good nor bad--just a fact of life and growing up. No big deal.

All the president been white , now that we have a half white president ( President Obama) everything is his fault, the oil spill the unemployment and everything else you people want to blame on him for, the girls out in a field like under tame dogs,and the jackass watching them is no better. By the way Obama is twelve cousin to Dick Channey kin to Sen. Brown and Bush also. this country has been ran by WHITE PEOPLE ? So THINK who got us in this mess? Poor parents don't have chance these days with the out of control teens and the abuse from you kids, I do not have kids I'm glad I don't one of your cause I would be in jail. As R. king said can't we just get alone. God help us with this messed up people in it . Ohh, I get it!! Two lil ignorant girls into a fight and it's Obama fault?! Cool! Oh no, never blame ignorant parents for raising ignorant children, much easier to blame the president. Why? Because he's black, and ya always gotta blame the black guy? Huh? Never blame the stupid white guy-- Bush spent 8yrs, flushing this country into the hole we're now in, however it's much easier to blame the current president, whose biggest mistake is believing that Americans are actually intelligent. Or believing that we deserve anything better than the Bush & McCains of the world. Very easy to see where these children get there values-- Pass the blame! They learn it at their mama's knee.

"Bush spent 8 years flushing"??? It must be nice to live life with your head in the sand, never thinking for yourself, merely repeating what Barry boy tells you to say. Your statement identifies you as a Democrat Party zombie, because even the SLIGHTEST bit of independent research on the state of the economy from 2000 to 2006 (hmmm...bonus question...what party has controlled Congress since 2006? HONEST people know...) puts the lie to your statement. Speaking of "passing the blame...", that's pretty much all Barry does on a daily basis, for the past 2 years.

Yes, 8yrs!!! Too bad so many buried their heads in the sands between Rush's azz and the dungeons they call FOXNews to notice what was going on around them. I saw large amounts of bribe money being tossed to the American people (tax windfalls) to cover their eyes while a multi-trillion $$$ war was initiated.... With the wrong PEOPLE, but the right OIL. Know what else I saw? The biggest gov't intrusion into American lives in form of the Patriot Act and other 'homeland security' illusions that would cost Americans even more money, and something so much more dear... The very essence of what it meant to be an American would be trampled by the Bush-Cheney horde. I could go on... and on... But this isn't the place. Oh, I don't absolve Congress, they were weak and forgot that most of their constituents, (the ones that called, marched and wrote letters in support of Bush&Cheney) spent their spare time in empty lots eggin' children into a brawl.

As I watched this I realized I was not just seeing two girls fight. I was witnessing the end of civilization as we know it. It's all downhill from here.

Hi there. Yes it is a very bad sign. Nobody knows how to use words to settle their differences. Fighting is the only answer? We are better than this. That is why we have laws that prohibit this. We are only as strong as our weakest link. So sad to see this much energy wasted on this sorry spectacle. Future employers will "google" search on the names. Then these kids will be so surprised when they do not get hired.
